I had to have a hysterectomy quickly so things did not progress too fast and reduce my chances of survival.
Then in 2009 a routine examination revealed another related cancer in very early stages that was removed. At that time the gynecologist explained to me that it would definitely return so I would have to return every six months for a complete examination in hopes of revealing things early so I would be able to have another surgery and have a fighting chance.
Two more six month examinations came, each revealing another bit that would have to be removed.
Last year I participated and stayed overnight in a tent and had a blast! I was so happy to do it! I planned on doing it this year. Some unexpected health issues came up this year and I had to go on a medication that I need to be on for a while before I could be comfortable pushing myself to my limits and staying over night in a tent, so I am giving the walk a rest, but I will be participating as a fundraiser anyhow.
This spring I was not so optimistic when I headed to the examination. But this time it was different. This time the Dr. said, "See you in six months!" and not, "Oh, oh time for surgery again." I was very excited to finally get the-all-clear
